The good: Food was amazing. Delicious Thai specialties with various Asian fusion options. If I was grading on food only I'd give it 4.5 stars (no it's not the best Thai food you ever tasted as locals would have you believe)
Worst treatment ever at Siam - WOW, we have been coming to Telluride for over 20 years and Siam has been one of our favorite places. Typical busy night, we are on wait list, no big deal, getting some drinks at the bar. I have been in the food service business and certainly understand sometimes things are slow, however, the bartender continually ignored us, then served several people who came after us. OK, annoying but we let it slide. We never said anything to him, but he still had a bad attitude towards us. Finally got served after 20 minutes+ (yes), my buddy was going to give him $3 for 2 drinks. I told my friend he didn't deserve any tip at all which the bartender must have heard because then he gets all huffy and says you guys just need to leave my bar. Wow, never had anyone tell me that before. So we tell the host who must also be the manager/owner that the bartender was rude to us. She says, well he was really busy, then tells us with our wives that she doesn't want us to eat there. Right in front of several people waiting. WOW! Never had anything like that happen before, ever. Guess they have so much business they don't care. Too many other great restaurants in Telluride. Thank you for ruining our evening Siam. You would never make it in a real city.
Locally owned, authentic and awesome. You can't go wrong with any menu item and great service. Yummy!
The place is busy. It serves great food. They won't be hurt by this review, but at least people should know.
The Best Thai I ever had, I have been going to Siam for Years and it's Amazing every time, this place is a must if your in Telluride..
Rude personnel, slow and inefficient service and not child friendly. Two stars because food is average to good. There are better places to go in Telluride and this place should be avoided until they rethink how they should treat their customers.
The bad: The hostess (it appeared to be the owner) was a very interesting character. She was offended that we walked into her restaurant without a reservation, and told us that she may have something for us if we wait around. I could tell this was going to interesting so we decided to grab a drink at the bar while waiting. That took good 20 minutes to get noticed by the bartender at the bar that seats 5 people. It seemed like the owner runs a tight ship and we were not to be served until the matriarch gives an approval. Another guest was rudely chased away from the bar because they didn't check in with the hostess which at some point hung up on somebody while walking around with "how's that for customer service?".
The ugly: At some point the restaurant lost the purpose to serve the customer even if it means a friendly nod or a smile. At first I found the environment to be entertaining as I was amused by it, but it really isn't comfortable for most people. The place suffers from the "soup Nazi" syndrome.
