Thank you
But the folks at Telluride Tire were super honest and treated me right. My poor old vehicle was just stuck in between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. Thus the terrifying shifting symptoms. They got it unstuck and back in 2 wheel drive and gave me an explanation of the condition of my Suburban and my options.
I went while we were on vacation and the tire light came on. They were busy but got to my car quickly and checked the tires, found two low on air and checked them for leaks. I expected a much longer wait but they got me in and out quickly and declined my offer to pay for the top up. Highly recommended.
And then right away when we got to the shop they got my Suburban on the lift and troubleshot the problem. I thought that potentially I was in for a serious problem and big bucks. I was really worried and vulnerable being on the road alone without backup.

Telluride Tire isn't the cheapest repair shop on the western slope, but are certainly worth the price! They aren't afraid to make sure you get quality service for a fair price, all while using some off the highest quality parts one can buy! On my first trip there with my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, there was a minor suspension misdiagnosis, which would have added quite a large sum onto an already large bill. Stuart had the misdiagnosed repairs completed for me at what it costed him to have them done. They are knowledgeable in their craft (everybody makes mistakes. For the amount of stuff I had done, it's somewhat surprising there weren't more mistakes made), and the work they have done for me has held up to some rough, potential wreck situations! Thanks to Cassidy (the guy who works on my vehicle), my car is still on the road and not in a scrapyard! My car is currently in their shop for the second time around as of this review for some minor performance work, which they are willing to do for a decent price, using top notch parts (for a 16 year old vehicle).
Fixed my 4wd quick and at a reasonable price.
The long and short of it was I only was charged for the tow and a half an hour of shop time. So... I feel like they really treated me right and gave me a great deal and got me back on the road in record time.
I am from New Mexico but I travel to Telluride several times a year. This last trip I was in town park and my Suburban developed a horrible sound and strange shifting behavior. I was afraid that I had lost the transmission. Not a good situation for me.
I super appreciate the help, honestly and fair pricing.
I called up Telluride Tire and Auto and they worked out a very convenient time to come and tow my vehicle to the shop which was great because it helped my camping and travel logistics saving me money.
Through my time using these guys, I've found they are honest, respectable, and fair car mechanics (hard to find these days). They aren't afraid to help you lay out a plan on what needs to be done today, and what can wait! Awesome, top notch service! Awesome, locally ran shop to support if you are a mechanically troubled driver in the Telluride Area! They are my go-to mechanic! Highly recommend!
I was in Telluride a couple weeks ago for a mini vacation. When my clutch started acting up I was concerned the vacation was over. The guys at Telluride Tire and Auto saved the day. My reservoir was nearly empty. The refilled and checked for leaks. I was back on the road the next day. My thanks to them for being trustworthy and very competent. Made my day.
