Best campsite in the Telluride area, short drive, easy and beautiful view had.
GREAT DISPERSED CAMPING SITE. PACK YOUR TRASH OUT.
Very pleasant lakes. Lots of fish can be seen. Mountain views. Lots of space. You need a high clearance vehicle to get all the way to the lakes camping area. Dispersed means there are no assigned spaces. You pick out your own spot. There is a ghost town on the way up that is worth exploring. We camped at the ghost town and took a trail to the lake as our van could not do that last mile of road as it was really ruff.
Recently visited this campground with my young family. Great drive, especially with AWD. The views are panaramic but beware there will plenty of others standing next to you enjoying the same views. ALL of the sites were is use for our visit. You could hear car doors opening and closing through out the night, people driving in at 2am and constant foot traffic along our campsite. I'd like to check this place out on a Tuesday but I'll skip a weekend visit in the future.
